The bidding for the Ferrari closed on September 28 at 3:59 p.m. Seventy-nine individuals submitted bids for the car, which is painted “Fly Yellow” and boasts a brown leather interior, according to newly released information.
The car, which has a five-speed transmission, was purchased in 1980, the same year Davis returned to performing following a five-year sabbatical. He sold the car in 1987 to Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York.
Davis owned several Italian sports cars, including a Ferrari 275GTB/4, a Ferrari Testarossa and a Lamborghini Miura S.
Davis, one of the most-acclaimed figures in the history of jazz, died on September 28, 1991 at the age of 65.
