Dylann Roof, who sentenced nine innocent people to death with repeated blasts from his .45 caliber Glock loaded with hollow point bullets  during a mass shooting inside a historic black church, now faces a federal death sentence.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch released this statement on Tuesday: “Following the department’s rigorous process to thoroughly consider all relevant factual and legal issues, I have determined that Justice Department will seek the death penalty. The nature of the alleged crime and resulting harm compelled this decision.”

Roof walked into Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C., on June 17, 2015, killing nine black worshippers during Bible study, where he was initially welcomed.

Roof, a white supremacist, said he was inspired to commit the massacre by George Zimmerman who murdered Trayvon Martin. An all women’s jury did not convict Zimmerman for murdering Trayvon Martin.

Police arrested Dylann Roof 240 miles from Charleston.

A florist recognized Roof and had her boss call the police.

Last July, a federal grand jury returned a 33-count indictment against Roof, charging him with federal hate crimes and firearms charges for killing and attempting to kill black parishioners at Mother Emanuel African Methodist. South Carolina does not have a hate crime law, but state law enforcement officials said they will seek the death sentence.

Roof, who confessed to the slaughter, is also charged with nine counts of murder in South Carolina. http://www.northstarnewstoday.com/news/federal-hate-crimes-hit-roof/He is scheduled to go on trial on state charges in January.
