Legendary civil rights attorney Fred Gray will discuss the Voting Rights Act during a conference in June in New York City.

Civil Rights Attorney Fred Gray will speak at an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the New York City Bar Association, 42 West 44th Street.

The event, which is sponsored by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, is called “The Destiny of Democracy: We Shall Overcome.”

Gray’s speech will be followed by a panel discussion led by Linda Greenhouse, a former reporter who covered the United States Supreme Court for The New York Times.
