Lewis Hamilton closes in on the World Drivers’ Championship

Driver Lewis Hamilton has won five of the last seven Formula 1 races as he closes in on the 2017 World Drivers’ Championship with four races to go.

Hamilton won the Japanese Grand Prix Sunday, giving him 306 points to Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel has 247 points.

Valtteri Bottas, who, like Hamilton, drives for Mercedes AMG, is in third place with 234 points.

Besides the Japanese Grand Prix, Hamilton, a black Englishman, has won the British Grand Prix, the Italian Grand Prix, the Singapore Grand Prix, the Belgian Grand Prix, the Canadian Grand Prix, and the Chinese Grand Prix.

Hamilton can wrap up the world driving championship with a victory October 22 at the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Hamilton won back-to-back World Driver’s Championships in 2014 and 2015.  He won his first world drivers’ championship in 2008.
