Police shot and killed 102 people in August, including an innocent bystander shot to death by undercover New York City cops in a nearby suburb, according to the website Killed by Police 2015.

So far this year, police have killed 790 individuals, the website reported.

Felix Kumi, a 61-year-old resident of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was shot twice on Friday by undercover officers from the NYPD’s firearms investigation unit.

Kumi, who drove a bus for the Mount Vernon School District, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was walking to pick up his van when he was shot to death. Police shot and killed Kumi while aiming at their intended suspect who was shot but is alive.

New York City Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said in a statement, “Mr. Kumi was blameless, and this tragedy has tested and tried his family.”

A native of Ghana, Kumi was one of 23 black men and one black woman killed by police in August. That number may increase once the racial identities of many of the victims becomes known.

The number of people killed in August by police is below the 126 killed in July.
