“Invisible Life The Musical,” to Open at New York’s Apollo Theater

“Invisible Life The Musical,” which is based on E. Lynn Harris’ bestselling novel of the same name, will open for a limited run in June to celebrate the book that was first published 21 years ago.

The musical has scheduled performances at New York’s Apollo Theater from June 25  through June 30th. There are two shows on June 27th, but there is not a show on June 28th, according to Apollo’s calendar. The Apollo’s telephone number is 212-531-5300.

The musical score was composed by Valerie Simpson and the late Nickolas Ashford.

Harris’s self- published novel is about an African-American man’s realization that he is bisexual.

Harris sold his novel out of the trunk of his car because he didn’t have a book deal. He also gave it away to beauty salons.

In 2010, the Los Angeles Times listed “Invisible Life” as one the top 20 classic works of gay literature ever written.

Although most of the parts have been cast, there are still casting opportunities for the leading lady, Broadway Diva Nicole, and sex siren Basil.
