Successful rapper and businessman Jay-Z is offering high school students or incoming college freshmen scholarships through his Shawn Carter Foundation. Jay-Z’s birth name is Shawn Carter.
The scholarship fund provides money to students who have either graduated from high school or earned a G.E.D. The student must have a 2.0 GPA, a strong desire to attend college and to earn a degree or a certificate at a vocational trade school. Students as old as 25 can apply.
The scholarship, which ranges from $1,500 to $2,500, must be spent on tuition, room and board, books, fees and other college-related expenses.
Individuals who are awarded the scholarship must also have a desire to give back to their communities.
The application deadline is usually April, which almost over, but there is always next year.
Gloria Carter and her son, Shawn Carter, founded the scholarship fund. Its website is https://www.shawncartersf.com/about/.
